Senior ERISA/Employee Benefits Attorney


Cohen, Weiss and Simon LLP, a firm representing labor unions and employee benefit plans affiliated with labor unions, as well as active practices in employment, bankruptcy, sexual harassment prevention, and wage and hour law, is seeking a senior-level ERISA/employee benefits attorney with seven (7) or more years of employee benefit plan experience.

We’re looking for a dedicated and talented attorney, preferably with experience in multiemployer Taft-Hartley benefit plans and qualified plans, who can add to our robust employee benefits practice and who will be able to work well directly with clients.

Role Requirements

Job duties will include providing advice to our diverse array of employee benefit plan clients regarding administrative and operational issues; ERISA, tax and other regulatory compliance; fiduciary issues; investment issues; plan design and drafting; plan qualification; communications; general consultation; and attending client meetings.

Experience in handling benefit plan-related litigation, including contribution enforcement, withdrawal liability, alter ego cases, post-judgment enforcement, benefit claims and fiduciary breaches is preferred but not required.

The successful candidate must be a member of the New York bar. Must have strong writing, speaking and analytical skills, and be a practical thinker with the ability to interact well with clients and plan professionals. An advanced degree in tax is also a plus but is not required.
